July's book for The Menstruator's Book Club was Seeing Red by Kirsten Karchmer. This book is easy to follow and has methods that anyone can use.
Kirsten Karchmer is a women's health pioneer. She started The Texas Center for Reproductive Acupuncture, Brazen (Women's Supplements Line), and Conceivable (A Fertility Program). Kirsten combines modern Western medicine with traditional Chinese medicine methods. Seeing Red is a book she wrote combining all of her knowledge of these medicines.
I really enjoyed reading Seeing Red, it was different than the other books we have read thus far. I love the TCM methods and supplements she outlines in the book, although it felt like an ad for Brazen. She also focused a lot on mindset work, which was difficult for me to read. She had said to replace feelings with facts and used "I have endometriosis" as an example. Having endometriosis is not a feeling, but a fact. I gave this book 3.5/5 stars because I felt like I needed more actionable steps and would have loved to hear more about how acupuncture works and helps menstruators.
If you are interested in joining The Menstruators Book Club, you can read on your own or follow along on Fable. Our next book is Period Power by Nadya Okamoto
Happy Menstruating and Reading!
