Book Review: Period Power

As many of you know, February's book club book was Period Power by Maisie Hill

For those of you who don't know about the lovely Maisie Hill, I will tell you a little about her. Maisie is a fantastic woman who experienced horrible period pain for many many years until she decided to fix it herself. She found a combination of treatments and therapies that helped and decided to become a practitioner so she could help others. Maisie has a BSc in Chinese Medicine Acupuncture, various degrees including life coaching, reflexology, massage, etc, and a post-grad diploma in Pediatric Acupuncture. She has published two books, Period Power and Perimenopause Power. You can find Maisie on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Now, let's move on to Maisie's book, Period Power.

Period Power.

This book dives right in and discusses each phase of your cycle in a different chapter. Then it moves to changes that menstruators go through, self-care, and then all of the issues menstruators may experience and ways to deal with them.

Each of the phase chapters explains the hormonal shifts that happen during each and how to make the most of each phase.

The section about changes begins with menstruation and moves through pregnancy (highlighting infertility as well), perimenopause, and ends with menopause.

The section on self-care touches on diet, exercise, relaxation, etc.

The final section is filled with all the information you could ever need about reproductive health issues and the ways Maise would recommend her clients deal with them. This was by far my favorite section as I will use it as a guide when working with my own clients and creating content.

I loaned this book from the library, but will definitely be buying it as I would love to re-read it at some point and have it on myself as a reference.

All that being said, I would give this book a 4.5-star rating!

I would recommend all menstruators read this book if they did not follow along with this month's book club

I hope everyone who read this book enjoyed it as much as I did. Now go get yourself a copy of next month's book, Woman Code by Alisa Vitti. I am super excited about this book, I have heard such great things about it!
