Recently I went on vacation...the week before my period. Let me tell you, the luteal phase is no joke and is not ideal for a fun-filled vacation. Not only was I in pain, but I was also very moody and very sleepy. But, luckily I came prepared! These are my must-haves for a vacation during your luteal/menstrual phase.
01. Since I don't use tampons or pads, I packed a lot of period underwear from The Period Company. I also packed my Period. Pouch to transport them to and from.
02. I knew I would be crampy and bloated, so I packed my heating pad and cramp cream from Somedays. This stuff is no joke and made my symptoms bearable during my trip.
03. Since I knew I would be on the go during my trip, I also packed cramp aid from DeLune. Cramp aid is my go-to treatment when I'm unable to lounge on a couch or in a bed. It provides instant relief for cramps and lasts a couple of hours.
04. I never go on vacation without my Seed probiotic.
05. My trip was a wine-tasting trip, so I knew I would potentially have digestive issues and that they would ramp up from my period. I also tend to have indigestion and acid reflux during my period and when I drink too much wine, so I packed Wonderbelly antacids.
---
I forgot to pack the following items but will make sure I do next time.
01. TENS Unit. This would have been nice to wear in the car and while we were traveling to different wineries.
02. Portable heating pad. If I could've worn my heating pad, that would have helped significantly.
03. A tote bag to carry all my things instead of it taking up space in my suitcase.
04. Tampons and/or pads for backup. I didn't run out of period underwear, but my period came a day early and I very well could have. I should have packed a couple of extra pairs of underwear or some tampons and/or pads for backup.
05. Tea. I barely ever drink coffee. I stick to matcha and other teas but didn't bring any with me. I should have brought my matcha and my raspberry leaf tea.
06. Cycle Balance from Elix. I was so mad at myself for forgetting this. I take it every day the week before my period and completely forgot to pack it.
I hope this guide helps you on your next vacation!
